Worked Very Hard

Two (2) winters ago I started to write this book and only had time to be creative throughout the winter months. I work very hard at Big Salmon Fishing Resort every summer from April through September helping my husband run his seasonal business. Also I started to cook in the small deli last year to start saving my money needed to publish this book. This book overwhelmingly took charge of everything in my life; I had a great desire to get it out to the public. Two more days and I will receive the edited manuscript…WOW!

My husband would have given me the money but I wanted to do it "myself". My granddaughter just started saying that a lot; she's finding her "INDEPENDENCE".
Today I'm happy!

Cleaning up the manuscript

It was hard to make the alterations that Callie brought to my attention through the first draft. I have enjoyed learning along the way through this process of publishing a book.

Here are Callie's notes to me:
February 29 – I will email the clean manuscript to you, and you will look it over and check all final changes.
March 15 – You will return the manuscript to me. I will implement any changes as necessary and move your manuscript on to our layout/design department.

Reason

Yesterday, I found out that my husband and I will be grandparents to one more granddaughter. She will be our second grandchild and will arrive in June, 2012. These are the reasons I hope that this book will sell many copies. I love my family and hope to continue to financially and physically help out my entire family. Waiting for this book to be published; is almost like having a child, the excitement is somewhat the same. Congratulation to my youngest son and his lovely wife, truly you are blessed. Becoming new parents will change your lives.

VOTE

Here are some "TITLES" that the Tate's Co. came up with...The Battle in Neah Bay was not suitable for a fictional book.

  • Joseph and the Star Fire Crew
  • Legacy of the Star Fire Crew
  • Joseph and the Tamanawis Spirit
  • The Tale of the Tamanawis
  • A Lurking Spirit Called Tamanawis
  • Joseph TaHayYasib Miller and the Tamanawis

Please help me make a choice. In the "Comments" just write down the one you like most. I know that you haven't read the book yet but you can read the Blog Posts to get some INSIGHT.

Words of Encouragement

Dawn,
Congratulations on your book! You’ve got a really interesting premise, some really engaging characters, and good visual imagery! Great job so far!
Callie Ferguson
Conceptual Editor

This was sent to me from the conceptual editor along with the manuscript. The editor had highlighted the areas that needed attention, and only I could make the changes. If he/she made the corrections it would be called “Ghost Writing” and that is not allowed. I could hire a “Ghost Writer” but I chose to do the work myself. To tell you the true, I cried after reading the kind words Callie shared with me. It’s a lot of work but very rewarding when an editor tells you your story has engaging characters. If you really desire something in life, just make it happen. If you fail at least you can say you gave it your ALL!

Edit Progress.

Joseph and the entire crew had all been dressed in black. They had been wearing long black coats, and their bootstraps had been laced up tight, ready for battle. As they walked side by side, it was a powerful sight. They walked together into the unknown, their black leather jackets swaying back and forth. Nobody remembered it was Joseph's birthday!

This is a portion of my book; you will find it at the ending.

Today I finished reading my edited manuscript that was sent back to me just days ago. I'm going to send it back to the company after I read it one more time. Then it goes through the processing (the book becomes a book). I'm so excited and can't wait the hold my first copy.
